Eliminating the Human Factor: A Revolution in Assessment
Zhania Aubakirova's Author's School (ASHZHA) is a private educational institution that successfully integrates general education and music programs. The school has set an ambitious goal: to create an educational environment completely free of the subjective "human factor" in assessment. To instill true responsibility in students and raise their academic level in line with international standards, including PISA, ZHA approached us to develop a unique AI platform and adaptive simulators.
Task and Background
The school came to us with a unique methodological challenge: the subjectivity and enormous administrative burden on teachers associated with manually checking numerous tests, SOR/SOCH, and exam papers. The goal was to digitalize the testing process across all subjects and sections, allowing teachers to focus on teaching and the system to focus on objective assessment.
The key requirement was AI. ASHZHA, as a leader in the field of education, was the first to consider implementing adaptive AI simulators. Programming or "hardcoding" algorithms for essay checking or automatic generation of unique questions was not feasible. This required automatic generation and context-based checking, which only AI can handle. This became the top priority.
Project objectives:
  • Eliminate the human factor:
To provide convenient access to education, while minimizing the teacher's influence on the student, so that the teacher only teaches and the system evaluates.
  • Academic support:
To solve the problem of underachieving students, those who are ill or have missed the program, by providing them with an open tool (exercises) for self-study.
  • Increased responsibility:
Implement a logic for limiting retakes and blocking access to the next material until the previous one is mastered.
  • PISA compliance:
Develop a system for working with open-ended questions, which is critical for high-level PISA and teacher training. In the future, the school plans to develop AI-based video analysis for proctoring.
Implementation and Key Features
The platform has become not just an LMS, but a sophisticated tool that adapts AI to the school's learning processes.
1. Adaptive AI Trainers (Self-Training Tool)
Trainers are available for each subject, section, and topic. The teacher enters or generates questions once using AI. Then, the system takes over:
  • Unique generation:
The AI generates additional questions based on those previously submitted by the teacher. A unique training question is generated for each student at each point in time for self-evaluation.
  • Adaptive learning:
If a student answers a question incorrectly, the AI automatically generates 3 questions on the same topic to reinforce the material, helping students practice before the exam.
  • Choosing the difficulty:
Students can choose their own difficulty level, but the level can be adjusted through the admin panel if necessary.
2. Comprehensive Automatic Evaluation
The system supports 8 different types of questions, from standard multiple-choice to essay writing. The main breakthrough:
  • For open-ended questions and essays, the AI establishes evaluation criteria based on which it independently analyzes and evaluates the student-written text. This fully automates the process of checking CORK/SORK and examinations.
  • The entire testing process (by topics, CORK/SORK, and exams) has been digitized and automated.
3. AI Consultant and Process Transparency
Inside the simulators, students can chat with an AI consultant. The consultant is trained to help and answer questions on the topic, but never to provide the correct answer. This helps students learn the material on their own.

Additionally, we implemented tools to ensure transparency in the process: "Regular check-ins provided a clear understanding of the current status. The additional task tracking platform allowed us to monitor progress at any time."
4. Role Model and Logic of Responsibility
The platform is designed for students, teachers, curators, moderators, and parents. Special attention is paid to the "No Jumping" logic: the system strictly controls that students cannot move on to the next section or topic until they have completed the previous material. This enhances responsibility and discipline, as well as promotes better understanding of the topics.
Advantages and Results
The collaboration was as smooth as possible, despite the fact that "the initial tasks were slightly modified, complicated, and adjusted." ASHJA acted as a partner, which allowed us to jointly achieve a working product that meets current needs.
Benefits for the school:
  • Reducing the burden on teachers:
Teachers no longer spend time on routine test checking and creating self-test assignments — the entire process is digitized and automated.
  • Improving the quality of education:
Thanks to adaptive training equipment and the ability to train independently, ASHJA was able to significantly improve the students' performance, which in turn had a positive impact on the financial situation of the private school.
  • Technological advantage:
The school has received a unique tool that is a technological advantage over other educational institutions, which strengthens its marketing position.
  • Responsible approach:
We were highly praised for our professionalism and responsibility: "The guys really 'worked with a conscience': it's clear that it's important for them not just to complete tasks, but to achieve the best possible result for the client."
